Thomasville Raises $11,000 for United Way

For the past few years, the Caterpillar Corporation in Thomasville has sponsored a golf tournament to raise money for the United Way.Unfortunately, Caterpillar closed their doors last year and their manufacturing was re-located from Thomas County’s community.

Scooter Grubbs, a member of the Rotary Club of Thomasville, came to the Board and asked if the club would consider carrying on this tradition since the United Way of Thomas County supports over 18 organizations in the community. The Board approved it and on August 26, 2017, Rotary Club of Thomasville held its first annual Rotary Golf Classic to support the United Way. Much planning and organizing went into the logistics of this tournament, ending in a very successful fundraiser! The club raised over $11,000 with some 46 hole sponsors and 24 teams made up of four members each.

Thirty-four Rotarians participated in this event, whether helping register, monitoring holes, serving food and beverages, shooting photos, displaying signage all over the courses, or even playing in the tournament. It was a HUGE success the club feels will be an annual event further exposing our philanthropic organization to this community and surrounding communities.
