Vietnam Veterans Help Griffin Remember Veterans Day

Griffin Rotarians Jim King and Philip Smith, two highly decorated U.S. Army veterans of the Vietnam War era, presented a Veteran’s Day program honoring the more than 30 veterans in the Rotary Club of Griffin. Each veteran had proudly served and, after being discharged, returned to civilian life, locked away the horrors and unpleasant memories of their military service, continued being patriotic citizens, and contributed to their community in their businesses and as Rotarians. Jim concluded the program with an invitation to all to the Veterans Day ceremonies at Griffin’s Veterans Park.

“Please take time to read the names on these monuments or any other markers honoring veterans,” Jim said. “They paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
