Shoes for Healthy Youth

The Rotary Club of Emory-Clifton (RCEC) received 2,000 pairs of Crocs shoes from Caring for Others through Makabayan Georgia, Inc. RCEC and the Filipino-American community in Atlanta. The shoes were then boxed and shipped to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, and Nueva Ecija, Philippines for indigenous people in remote areas. Shoes for Nueva Ecija have been distributed through the leadership of Elito Circa, Amang Pintor, President of Rotary Club of Golden Harvest. Shoes for Palawan will be distributed from January 30-February 1st, 2018. This project of Rotary Club of Emory-Clifton ( Pia Valeriano) will be assisted by Ortega Family ( Rafael Jr Ortega, Mayor Jaime Ortega), Villa de Sierra Vista ( Reshelle Magalona Chua and Hannah Manalo Lucenara) and Jaycees of Puerto Princesa ( Franchezka Liboro).

These shoes are intended for low-income, under-privileged children and young adults -- to provide them with some protection from diseases acquired from walking barefooted. The barangay/public officials have identified the following areas to be the suitable recipients: Balderama, Magsaysay, Marimras, Aplaya, Tabiyay, Bakahan, Baba, Barake, Magbabadil, Sagpangan, Isaob, and Dil-At.

Thank you to my friends and colleagues who packed these shoes, made monetary donations and attended the fund raising event (Painting Workshop) to make this outreach program possible.
