From Our District Governor Elect
Proud to Be a Rotarian

Court Dowis, District Governor 2018-2019

As your DGE, I was able to attend International Assembly Training last month in San Diego with the 535 DGEs from all over the world. The week started with a fantastic speech from our RI President-Elect, Barry Rassin, setting the exciting tone for all of us to meet and share ideas from all of Rotary.

During the next several days, we would all gather: DGEs, spouses, RI Leadership, around 1200 people, for informational presentations, and then move to breakout sessions with 20-25 of our colleagues. These breakout sessions were especially informative as in every group, 11 to 15 different countries would be represented. The knowledge and best practices that were shared freely helped to confirm that District 6900 is one of the best Rotary districts in the world.

Highlights of the week were the International Parade of Countries with Rotarians dressed in native costumes, followed by a dinner and dance. Next was Zone Night on Wednesday, all the DGEs from Zone 33/34 got together for a wonderful dinner on the San Diego Bay.

On Thursday evening, we were all treated to a President-Elect Barry kind of party- a casual Bahama theme with dinner and dancing into the night!

I look forward to meeting every one of you, the club PEs at PETS Training, or Crew Chief Training, February 23-25, 2018. Every member of your clubs is invited to District Training Assembly or “Pit Crew Training” in Columbus, Georgia on March 24.

I am so excited to share with you the 2018-2019 RI Theme: “Be The Inspiration.” It fits our Rotary, our district, our clubs and our members perfectly for the service, community, and international projects we do every day.

Thanks for all that you do!!
